Oroville Dam is a red flag, Talk Back letter writers agree

Published Friday March 3

Why does such a question even need be asked? Shouldn’t this Oroville concrete spillway and the emergency spillway work at least one time? Neither one did. The concrete one simply broke. Further, the emergency spillway was dirt. When water overtops a concrete dam wall, a waterfall is created. Waterfalls hitting dirt turn dirt into mud — and mud slides down hills.

This dam holds back 3.5 million acre-feet of water. That comes to 1 trillion, 140 billion gallons. A family of 5 uses 1 acre-feet of water per year. That is a lot of water. Very unsafe Governor Jerry Brown.
